I have tried WeROAM with the Sierra Wireless PCMCIA Card (GPRS/EDGE only), the 
Option Globetrotter 3G+ PCMCIA Card (3G/EDGE/GPRS), and the Huawei E220 USB 
modem (HSDPA/3G/EDGE/GPRS).  All worked with Ubuntu, with some tinkering 
around.  There are a lot of HowTo's you can google for.
