When IPv4 Addresses Run Out

The day is fast approaching when the pool of free IPv4 addresses will be 
depleted. That is a certainty especially given the fact that more new 
devices and applications using IP-based networking are coming out all the 
time.

As these devices and applications become more capable and complex, they 
will need better end-to-end connectivity. Network Address Translation 
(NAT) works -- sorta. IPv6 works better. But for now most people are 
conten to use IPv4, blissfuly unaware of the impending address shortage. 
What will happen when those addresses finally run out?
