Same here. Had a kernel panic problem on my test server running Centos 5
this morning. It did not boot after resetting so I just removed a RAM module
(found to be defective) and the machine ran smoothly afterwards.

Looks like a hardware issue to me (assuming that you did not changed
anything before the crash like kernel or system upgrade).
HDD/(or in RAID) and RAM are the usual culprits.
can you also send the exact kernel panic message to the list.





I agree, we had a similar issue with one of our client's server, it just a
case of defective RAM. Upon replacing the RAM the server is back up and
running again.
