Greetings from the PLUG website

I would like to announce the successful implementation of '*PLUG's
Aggregated Feeds*', viewable on the right sidebar of our lovely website
http://linux.org.ph. Alternatively, you may also view the complete page
here:

http://www.linux.org.ph/index.php?q=aggregator/categories/1

Here's a short FAQ:

   - *What the heck is this?* - This is the aggregated feed of a few
gentlemen PLUGgers / Bloggers who've been kind enough to share their Linux /
FOSS or otherwise PLUG related feeds with the rest of us. Namely, they are
Messrs. Anuerin Diaz, Elijah Alcantara, Manny Amador (Phnix), Michael Cole,
Migs Paraz, Noel Bautista and Zak B. Elep.

   - *What's it for?* - Several purposes. Primarily, to achieve 'zeitgest'
so that we may be able to know what things are going on in and around
PLUGgers minds, what's keeping them occupied, and so on. Secondarily, it
provides content for our website. Once syndicated, said content will also
help promote PLUG by spreading our news, info, howtos, etc., onto the
general blogosphere. It can also help us figure out who are actively doing
FOSS work out there, as well as provide a central repository of all things
PLUG related. Not to mention of course, end hunger and promote world peace.

   - *Why?* - After aggregating these feeds, I in turn have used Feedburner
to allow a central feed for these.. uhmm... feeds. Feedburner helps
repackage these feeds into an interesting 180x100 rotating headline graphic
that can be used for email signatures, and also a javascript snippet that
will display these on a blog's sidebar, including the publishing date,
author name, title and a 20 word excerpt. Complete Details here:
   http://www.linux.org.ph/index.php?q=content/plugs-aggregated-feeds . For
a sample of how it looks like on a blog's sidebar, check out my blog here:
   http://lefthandedlayup.com .

   - *What's Next?* - I am thinking of running a logo design + tshirt design
contest to beautify (our already gorgeous) website, but I think it's about
time we start working on PLUG's SEC legitimacy. We've pushed this issue way
   too far.

I once again extend the invitation for more PLUG feeds to bloggers out there
who write PLUG related stuff. Now is not the time to be shy. Conversely, I
highly recommend that we all subscribe to PLUG's Aggregated Feeds or better
yet, using the snippets to garnish your blogs with PLUG content. Trust me,
I've checked each one and they are all GOOD reads, not to mention original
and relevant. All worth visiting daily and hence, worth promoting further.

Help promote PLUG. Subscribe to it. Add it to your email sigs. Write
relevant stuff and share it with your PLUG mates. If you find content worth
sharing, share it further by writing about it. Add your thoughts. Converse,
challenge, discuss, participate. In the spirit of open source, work to make
it better.

Till next!
Gary
