hi ryan, i think gabriel's point is not just knowing what he can try out, but rather, he is suggesting topics for possible presentations during a meet up. we can easily find out the equivalents of proprietary software in the free software world using <insert name of preferred search engine here> but sometimes it takes actually seeing someone demonstrate using the software to us for it to click. show and tell.
in the early days of plug, i recall doc mana demonstrating SAMBA, and dr. cito maramba and i discussing using PC NFS (on DOS) with Linux NFS servers at one of our meetings. we even had an interesting demonstration of Linux on a floppy as an X server! ;) [wait, i think that was at a smaller private meeting.] On Wed, May 21, 2008 at 2:17 PM, Ryan Ching <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Hi Gabriel, > > If you are looking for alternative for the two softwares: I would suggest > GIMP for photoshop, they almost have the same set of features you can use. > You can also try Blender for 3D images.
