You can integrate openvpn to LDAP theres a plug-in
http://code.google.com/p/openvpn-auth-ldap/ or you can use PAM. I saw this a

We are running OpenVPN on an IPCop firewall. We tested the said vpn server
but used a separate client on top of M$ workstation. What we found out on
this product is that it requires a separate client. This is okay for
internal users working at home. However, we are looking for the following
features:

1. ease of use in terms of vpn users (the users are not part of the company)
2. integration with directory service (preferably LDAP)
3. ease of administration and monitoring

As of the moment, we are running ISA Server until such time we get an OS
alternative. We are still investigating the other features of OpenVPN if it
will scale our needs.

Regards,
Maenard
