hi...im running ubuntu 8.10 on a HP dv2740SE..its an AMD turion machine.. -broadcom wireless working via ndiswrapper...with a little help from this page.. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx/Feisty_No-Fluff added my machine in the documentation as kutsaratinidor
-battery life is good..it really depends on the environment and usage...gets up to 2hrs and a few minutes on a full charged batt -heat issues....based on observation...a dv6000 with an intel core2 proc runs cooler...or maybe its just that my chassis is smaller and the heat being less dissipated...its hot i tell you...ehehehe...compare to my friends dv6000 pavilion...he was the one who noticed it... - AIGLX? for running compiz fusion?...the integrated nvidia 7150 can handle it....im not sure though for the intel x3100.. good luck on your planned purchase..
