Carlos,

IMHO, go for business laptops rather than consumer ones. It may be
more expensive, but it's worth every penny. My personal usage that I
have used for a couple of years which the best ones are:

  * IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T series
  * HP/Compaq N series
  * Dell D series

Of course, there are other notebook business line manufacturers out
there, but the above is what I have experience. If money is an issue,
refurbs or second hand notebooks are a great deal still for me, even
if the second hand Thinkpad T notebook has a $50 difference with the
new acer celery laptops.

There is a reason, and business laptops are built to last and very
sturdy compared to consumer laptops. Example, my good friend has the
Dell D500 for 4 years now... you would not believe how abusive he is
with that laptop, but it just goes on and on.

Finally, my dear compaq armada pentium II 300Mhz. Would like to throw
it away, but this thing just won't die, and just keeps on humming.
