If you read the blog, it points to the pendrivelinux.com site which gives details on how to prepare a bootable / installable Live USB stick from a bootable / installable Live CD or iso-file of the same. It uses syslinux and versions of initrd.gz and syslinux.cfg from the pendrivelinux.com site to replace those of the Ubuntu CD.
