Good question. Mr. Ellison has stated he wants primarily Solaris and Java. This means it might happen that SUN Hardware (T1/T2 ultrasparcs are lovely CPU though.) can be killed by low revenue and the X86 HW commodity movement on the server market like an unstoppable train. On the other hand, hardware+software is almost double pure profit.
What I really would like to see is this. A chance for Oracle to trickle down technologies from OpenSolaris to Linux or even merge them altogether. ZFS/Dtrace in Linux? regards, Andre | http://www.varon.ca On Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 5:45 PM, thad <[email protected]> wrote: > Will Oracle be interested with Sun hardware, or its just buy and kill > acquisition? > > On 4/20/09, andrelst <[email protected]> wrote: >> I think some guy on Oracle got wind of the topic about Oracle and >> MySQL discussed here in PLUG last month.
