IP Cameras still cost a lot and may not have some important features
(cheap, infra red lights, etc.) compared to analog ones.  DVRs for
analog cameras now have an ethernet port.  But to view the video on a
browser, you would need an Active-X plugin.  So that means you have to
use IE.  However, the protocol used for most of these devices is rstp
so the video can be viewed with:

mplayer rtsp://username:passw...@ipofcamera/live/mjpeg
