Linux is honorable mention no. 1, questionable reasoning and worse
grammar. Have posted a reply on the site, which is taking forever to
preview. Here it is:

1. Linux
Linux can not do a lot of work; If Linux (being a freeware) where to
replace all commercial software, it will render huge numbers of people
going unemployed.

This is garbage. For one, Linux is not freeware, it's Free Software.
See http://www.fsf.org for the difference. Second, it's not going to
replace "commercial" software, but complement it. Third, several
Internet giants could not have grown without Linux and other Free
Software such as the Apache Web Server, the MySQL database management
system, the PhP scripting language, to name at least three. And lastly,
companies built around Free and Open Source Software build their
revenue models around services such as support and training.

IT Technologies via The Internet Threat Landscape by Terrence on 5/23/09

According to foreign media reports, the British IT site Vnunet selected
the top 10 most dangerous IT technology a few days ago, computer
viruses and Windows operating system are both in the list. Almost any
technology is a double edged sword. On one hand it may favor progress
and development, but also may cause great harm to society. Stated as
such included: Windows OS, robotics and nano-technology.

Vnunet selected the following for the 10 most dangerous IT
technologies:

1. Viruses
Computer virus is the greatest headache posed to the computer and
network security industry which can result in huge losses to the
society.

2. Windows
Windows OS has changed the way people work and play to a great extent,
but as a result of its widespread usage, it also provides opportunity
to virus writers and hackers to exploit.

3. Digital Rights Management (DRM)
Content publishers have the right to protect their copyrighted content,
but digital rights management’s (DRM) development has contradicted its
primary objective and resulted in violation of user privacy, such as
the Sony Rootkit incident.

4. Surveillance equipment
While it plays a vital role in security, the Surveillance equipment at
the same time led to privacy issues, who knows who is watching on the
other side?

5. Nanotechnology
Nanotechnology is almost "omnipotent", but it can also bring great harm
to human beings.

6. Email
E-mail technology is a great invention, it is believed that many users
have experienced the "Send an e-mail to the wrong people" once you
click “send”, there is nothing you can do about it, like the recent NUS
alumni office incident.

7. Peer to peer (P2P) technology
P2P file-sharing technology to provide unlimited convenience, but also
brought a security issue, has you have no control on the shared data,
just like taking candy from a stranger.

8. Plug-ins
Credible plug-ins can really enhance the browsing experience, but there
are lots of malicious plug-ins roaming around which can potentially
comprise your security.

9. Robotic weapons
Robotics technology has brought us much convenience and progress. Armed
robots on the other brings certain risks considering how often
computers hang up.

10. Videoconferencing
Video conferencing gives a "face-to-face" illusion of communication,
but if all businesses were to communicate through the screen, then it
could be a very “painful” experience.

.

Honorable mention:

1. Linux
Linux can not do a lot of work; If Linux (being a freeware) where to
replace all commercial software, it will render huge numbers of people
going unemployed.

2. Media players
The usage of media players takes the attention away from the on-coming
traffic from a pedestrian and puts him in a dangerous situation.
