It's partly political :) In brief, dotPH is, as you may know, the .ph
country-code top-level domain (ccTLD) registrar, and the administrator
Joel Disini is far from popular in the Internet community. Let's leave
it at that.

For whatever it may be worth, my blog (address in my sig, below) is
hosted at dotPH. A traceroute from my PC takes me to
58.69.88.254.pldt.net then two more hops with IPs starting with 58.,
to two HK hosts, then 202.78.119.17 which I presume is in the RP and
s17.globallink.bt-ix.bti.net.ph, and eventually to a 203.something
host. traceroute to email.com.ph takes the same route. I'm not quite
sure if that belies their connection to four local telcos.
