I have the AMD 780+SB700 chipset on a MSI KA780GM2. Sound was working for a while, but now I get a cracking sound.
The only fix I found for this didn't work - disable power saving: options snd-hda-intel power_save=0 power_save_controller=N Any users who have fixed this? Using kernel 2.6.31 on Ubuntu Karmic Koala. I haven't tried this rig on other distros.
