The Commissioners en Banc normally meets on Tuesday, which often end at about 2 P.M., hence Comm. Larrazabal who had earlier confirmed to meet with us has requested that we meet with him instead at the COMELEC at 3 P.M. Smartmatic-TIM also prefers that COMELEC Comm. Larrazabal will be present during our meeting with them, hence cannot also meet with us separately on Tuesday. Comm. Larrazabal is the new chairman of the Steering Committee for the 2010 Automated Election System (AES). As earlier mentioned, this meeting with COMELEC and Smartmatic-TIM is for the purpose of understanding more fully how the Smartmatic-TIM solution for the AES 2010 works, the preparations and arrangements that both COMELEC and Smartmatic-TIM are now making, and more importantly, how we, as members of the Philippine IT Community, may be able to help resolve remaining issues and extend support and assistance in whatever way to make it succeed. We feel that this is our last chance to demonstrate to the whole world that the Philippines can in fact successfully carry out the largest and most expensive IT project ever to be conceptualized and implemented in the country.
