Michael,

I've preferred the CLI (command line interface) since I stopped punching
80-column Hollerith cards on the 029 Keypunch and accesing the DEC System/10
via a gen-u-wine Teletype 1011 terminal. But, I find it much more productive
working with Xfce and its multiple desktops.

I keep 4 virtual consoles open on two virtual desktops, and do all sorts
of administrative and writing in them using joe. I can cut and paste among
the terminals as well as with alpine (mail), web pages (firefox), coding
(emacs), serious writing (LyX/LaTeX), and my sales tracking tool (built from
TreeLine). Much, much more productive and convenient than working logged
into multiple terminals.

However, I use the computer to run my business and not just to learn more
about linux, networking, or security. I passed through that phase a long
time ago.
