Can we assume that DSL is unavailable at your location? I recently evaluated Comcast, Verizon, and Clearwire for my parents in Hillsboro. Given the need/desire for a POTS land line, adding DSL from Verizon was the least expensive option. For a little more money DSL is available from local ISPs. A local ISP will certainly be more responsive when it comes to things like Usenet.
