Actually, you can just use a little javascript shortcut to add a
bookmark to your del.icio.us account, so you don't need to install the
plugin. I used the javascript method when I was using Epiphany, the
GNOME browser, which didn't have a del.icio.us plugin. The "official"
plugin has a couple of extra features, but they aren't necessary; the
bit of javascript will work with any browser that does javascript.

But now I'm using Xmarks and Firefox (Iceweasel), though I still have my
del.icio.us account.

One nice thing about del.icio.us is that I've found it to be a really
helpful source of OSS tutorials and tips. Of course, you don't need
your own del.icio.us account to use it as a search engine. Just sayin',
for the benefit of anyone who's never bothered with social or remote
bookmarking, that del.icio.us is worth checking out for more targeted
and potentially more useful results than you might typically get from
Google, particularly on subjects related to desktop
computing/publishing, website design and content management, fonts, and
the like.
