Some time ago I bitched about feedback noise from the computer to my stereo. Think of a public address microphone where you get feedback weeooweeoowow because the microphone is positioned too close to the speakers.
I no longer use the radio in the receiver. All sound comes from the desktop computer which is connected from the sound card output via cable with RCA plugs to the video input on the receiver. I have a little adapter for the 3.5 mm mini headphone jack on the sound card to RCA jacks. The source is usually streaming internet radio, sometimes my own mp3 collection, and occasionally a movie. Eventually I will use the computer for television as well. The problem seems worse when the humidity is low. Moving my body slightly affects it. The longest wire in the setup is the pair of RCA cables from the computer to the stereo. I bought a pair of triple shielded cables on eBay and they arrove the other day. I thought this would be the solution, but after switching to the new cables it is even worse. So much for shielding. In the computer I have turned off or down to zero all microphone inputs. I have turned the sound volume down to about 20% and use the volume control on the receiver to increase the volume to normal listening levels. There is a lot of electronic equipment and wiring in the room, but I can't get rid of any of it. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears. Literally. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
