Don't be so sure. There are defined liguistic symbol sets and probably classes for linguistics books, too. > I completely agree that a word processor is not the tool for doing a book. > But Scribus isn't ready yet, and I don't have the time or inclination to > learn TeX. Well, ... as Rogan and I mentioned, learning TeX won't make you a faster writer. Learning LyX will. You will, of course, end up learning LaTeX when you need to do things not already built into LyX (which is, IMNSHO, getting too bloated). > I would kill for a Linux equivalent to Adobe Indesign CS (or CS2 or > CS3, although CS is enough for me). You can always look at the dvips preview of the typeset page, but you don't need to see how it appears on paper when you're writing or editing. That's just distracting. You will find overfull lines that you'll need to adjust, but that's when you're all done writing and editing. > I mean what you see on the screen is exactly what will come out of the > printer, and exactly what the PDF export will look like. And, LyX is not for sale ... it's free. Rich -- Richard B.
