Moneydance is a great program (I use it), but it is personal finance software, not tax software. You can use the categories to keep track of tax-related spending and withholdings, but it does not inherently provide any tax features. There is a free trial version. Note it is Java under the hood, which is why it is cross-platform. The Windows/OSX/Linux versions just have convenient launchers included. There is a python interface and API to allow extensions, though I haven't played with it much. It is not free, but so far they have allowed free upgrades to newer versions ever since I bought it.
