that is sleazy.  usually things just check /etc/redhat-release, but they 
must have caught on to how easy it is to lie :-).  what i'd suggest is 
making a fake rpm script that returns what they expect to see.  fiddling 
with the rpm database is bad.  hopefully this is just at install time?
