IANAL, but I'd say the answer depends entirely upon whether Google Docs makes his text publicly available. If so, that is publishing. If not, and possibly with appropriate safeguards both info-security and couched in legal language, then... maybe not. Your friend needs to talk with *his* lawyer about this. Even if all he spends to 'hire' that lawyer about this is a lunch, or round of drinks. Robert
