I haven't experienced or heard of this for a long time, but disks that would only click on power up were once were deemed to have "sticktion". You could often get them going with a sharp tap just after powering them on. A sharp tap could be with your knuckle, the handle of a screwdriver or a claw hammer, depending on personal taste. Once unsticktioned, you never turned them off until you were done with them. Good luck. -- Patrick Timlick On Thu, Aug 6, 2009 at 2:47 PM, wes <[email protected]> wrote: > I have used gillware.com with good success. > > -wes > > On Thu, Aug 6, 2009 at 2:44 PM, Chaz Sliger <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Apologies for using an existing thread, but my posts are getting > bounced... > > > > I'm looking for a good disk recovery service. > > Disk is emitting clicking noises. > > > > Samsung, 80 Gb, IDE Ultra ATA-133, 7200 RPM, 9ms Avg Seek. > > > > Model No: 0891J2FXB95822 > > > > This is out of a Win-XP desktop system. > > > > Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. > > > > Regards, > > Chaz > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > > PLUG mailing list > > [email protected] > > http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug > > > _______________________________________________ > PLUG mailing list > [email protected] > http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug > _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
