I'm seeing other info that suggests the same thing. Now it comes down to sound card input quality. Let's say I want to get a really good-sounding card. The M-Audio Audiophile looks intriguing: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829121120&Tpk=m-audio%20audiophile It uses a VIA VT1712 chipset. One has to consider kernel compatibility. Any high quality cards (preferably with RCA inputs like this one, since a good connection is critical) that are known to work with the linux kernel? I'm getting an electric viola. They all seem to come with built-in pre amps. It probably has to do with the electrical qualities of transducer bridges.
