I need it and I can't get it. I need SRM console to install a modern version of Linux on my Alpha PC164 system. I found 1 person on Ebay selling an Alpha PC164LX motherboard with the processor, nothing else sadly, who says that the board has SRM console on it. I asked him if he can get a copy of it to me.
The HOWTOs on http://www.alphalinux.org need to be updated so that they point to a place on the Internet that you can actually download SRM console from. I take it that HP or Compaq owns Alpha now, but it seems to be killed where the HP web site doesn't let you get to anything pertaining to the Alpha. What's worse is that HP doesn't support the PC164 Alpha only listing Alpha server machines. I'm having the same problem with Microsoft in regards to Windows NT 4.0 Alpha. I can't install a Linux distribution that is any newer than Redhat 6.2 on my Alpha system. Redhat 7.1 is supposed to be milo compatible, but I can't install it from milo for some reason. Obviously, I'd be better off installing CentOS 4.2 which definitely requires SRM console. Does anyone know of a mirror of digital equipment corporations ftp site with the last version of SRM console that works with my PC164 Alpha? Linus, if you hear about this problem, please ask the Alpha maintainers to start working on an open source replacement for SRM console. It is ridiculous that MILO, the open source loader for Linux on Alpha, got abandoned in favor of SRM console which I can't get my hands on. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
