Although the one time it happened (my fault; I left my battery charger in my hotel room for a 3-hour talk with 2-hour batteries) the show organizers not only coughed up a laptop, but they installed OpenOffice just for me, so I could give the talk in the native format instead of pdf.
Dunno what would have happened if I'd insisted I needed Ubuntu, too.
