interesting. what problems have you had with VIA systems? i've been
running a one ghz mini-itx mobo with a 1.2ghz via chip fanless for a
couple of years now and it's been rock solid (except the wifi card i'm
using in it occasionally gets in a fight with ndiswrapper that
requires a reboot to fix, sadly).

i used it as my desktop for about a year before i decided i really
needed more than that motherboard's max 1G of ram to do some things i
wanted so i got a new machine as a desktop and left that as the
server. it runs beautifully and silently...girlfriend has no
objections to it running all night (once i desoldered the activity
light on the NIC).
