I finally got the time to build some Frankenstein QXGA (2048x1536)
T60 Thinkpads. Part of the process involves writing new EDID
screen configuration information to the QXGA panels so the
Thinkpad BIOS does not glarf (I imagine X could be fooled to
read EDID from a file).

There are some freeware Windoze (but not open source) tools out
there for rewriting the EDID information, but a quick search did
not reveal anything for Linux. Does anybody know of a Linux app
that *writes* EDID information to a display?
