There is xclip:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/xclip/

I use it sometimes but it does not always seem to work quite right. Or at
least, the X clipboard/cut buffer standards are enough of a mess that I do
not always understand why it does what it does.

A few months ago I cleaned out my basement and sent a whole pile of Sun
Ultra 5s to Free Geek. You might check with them or on eBay; you should be
able to pick up an old POS like that for $20 or so.
