And I have the LiDE 30. I can verify that it works fine with Sane. That
is, all the features of Sane work. Like Galen, I never tried the
buttons. Like the LiDE 20 it is not very fast, but has the advantage of
being completely powered by the USB port. I especially like the fact
that it is small and very lightweight. I have actually taken it to
the PSU library and used it as a personal photocopier.

At the same time I should add that when I bought it Canon had just come
out with a newer model, and the newer model was not supported. I had to
look around for a store that still had the LiDE 30 in stock. I paid $90
for it and that was a couple years ago, so you should be able to find
one for half that online somewhere.
