I've never gotten bluetooth to work reliably with my thinkpad. I
finally realized that it had to do with where they placed the antenna
on my particular model. At the very bottom of the machine so ALL of
the hardware is between the radio, and anything you want it to connect
to. When I got some things to support the laptop in the air, and put
bluetooth devices under it I had better success. Unfortunately I
discovered that whenever bluetooth was active my WIFI crapped out. My
guess is because the wifi card is right next to the bluetooth card.
Having bluetooth work wasn't worth having WIFI not work so I stopped
working on it. I also tried an external usb->bluetooth adapter, but
didn't figure out how to turn that on without also turning on the
internal problematic one. I think though that I might be able to
unplug the internal one, and that might solve the problem.
