I have had very good luck with the ATI cards. Many years ago I had
problems with one, back when you had to compile GATOS yourself. I
never could seem to get the settings quite right. Once they had GATOS
as part of the regular x.org my troubles went away. I've used both an
ATI 128 Rage Pro All-In-Wonder and an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV
with excellent results. (Both were AGP, though.)

I've now also used a couple of Hauppauge video input cards with good
results. A WinTV Go PCI and very recently a Hauppauge 1196 WinTV
HVR-1250 PCI Express, though I guess I don't actually know how well
that one works yet. I just trust it because it's Hauppauge.

As an aside, has anyone gotten video recording to work? I know that
with Myth I can do it, but I want a stand-alone solution, more like
TV-Time. I know they say that if you build it yourself you can enable
recording, but I could never get the settings quite right.
