If your CDROM drive in on the same IDE cable as your hard disk, I would expect the drive to show up in the traditional Linux location for IDE disks of /dev/hdb. If it is on the secondary IDE cable, look for /dev/hdc.
Is this the original CDROM device that was on the machine when it first booted after operating system installation? Or did you replace a drive? If you replaced a drive, you may have to delete /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistant-cd.rules, reboot, and let the udev **** (civil?) find the new drive. > 2) I ran "cdrecord -scanbus" which gives: > > Cdrecord-ProDVD-ProBD-Clone 2.01.01a57 > (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2009 Jörg Schilling > Linux sg driver version: 3.5.34 > Using libscg version 'schily-0.9'. > scsibus4: > 4,0,0 400) 'Generic ' 'USB SD Reader > ' '1.00' Removable Disk > Was there a USB "card reader" for a camera SD memeory card plugged in at the time you ran "cdrecord -scanbus" > 4,1,0 401) * > 4,2,0 402) * > 4,3,0 403) * > 4,4,0 404) * > 4,5,0 405) * > 4,6,0 406) * > 4,7,0 407) > > I am not sure what this means. > -------------------------------------------- > > If anyone has an idea about what is wrong, please let me know. > > Thanks. > Wayne _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
