If you use Skype, be in for a tough time getting it to work correctly in 64bit land. In usual Sun fashion of being behind the times, you may run into difficulties with the JRE (browser plugin, crypto modules). Most of these issues seem to have been resolved more recently. I do some whacky stuff with Java now and then, so I still have trouble, but maybe you won't run into any. There is always the OpenJDK which usually works. You'll definitely want 32bit libc/et al emulation running. I know how to do this in Debian, but I'm sure the slackware experts can help you there.
