Drew, Not at all funny, as it's a serious concern. I'd like to use a CMS for my site, take advantage of httpd and postgres running here, yet keep my business financial information and the rest of my system secure from any successful httpd incursion. The above answers half my question: yes, with sufficient work, knowledge, and attention to detail httpd can be isolated from the rest of the system. The other half of the question is whether individual applications can be secured.
