It is easy to install and upgrade, I've found, from what fooling around I have done with that.
I have Wordpress on my desktop (!) running behind my firewall box under Mandriva, which seems to have a good LAMP stack (hey, I got it working). There are lots of free themes and I have been running vanilla Wordpress for about 18 months without getting hacked, though I've seen many tries.
