Thanks all for the verification that firefox works with Wells Fargo, suggesting that I had some weird configuration problem. I browsed about:config and found this item changed: general.useragent.override: Quicktime 7.6.4 I reset it. The string is now blank. Now the Wells Fargo page works, reporting the expected: Your browser is: Firefox 3.6.10 THe next mystery is what set that override, and whether something is broken now that it is turned off.
