i had trouble with unetbootin but it's another tool in the same vein (and runs on windows/linux). i never ended up troubleshooting initial trouble, but it ran ok on another system, finally. it'll do whatever .iso you have, or it has native support for downloading a lot of distros. i only got the iso option to work. however, it worked for both ubuntu and knoppix once i got it going. and current knoppix by default has the persistent storage you seek. it would be interesting to find out how to add that to $arbitrary_distro, but i do not know how offhand. sorry this isn't the most thorough, relevant answer, but perhaps it gives you a new tree to bark up? _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
