I highly encourage you to identify an adventurous staff member to "sponsor" you and pursue this as an extra-curricular student activity. Teachers have enormous demands on their time. Please respect that by not asking them to context-switch unnecessarily. Space in schools is often scarce. Labs require lots of the aforementioned. Plan accordingly. I have strong feelings about this topic; they are my feelings and not my employer's. I sound grumpy here. I assure you, this is not the case.
