   This assumes that you do not install any applications in /usr/ other than
what comes on the distribution disks. For many of us, that's not the case.

   If I get two versions behind on Slackware, I upgrade one version at a
time. And I make sure that everything is working properly on the first
upgrade before proceeding to the second one. With few exceptions, this has
worked for me. And, I'm normally no more than one version behind.
