All pushing more pixels at it is going to do is cause it to resample them into its native resolution, probably badly. My guess is that the 1600x1200 it cites is just the maximum resolution that it will accept for resampling. Projectors aren't the same as monitors. Don't expect them to be and your life will start seeming better. Count yourself lucky if it does 1024x768!
