I have mailscanner failing to pass any email on one of my servers. To try and fix this I have done the following:
I upgraded to postfix-2.3.3 on the affected server via rpm and the force option. I checked every file in the postfix config on the broken machine just to make sure they match the files from a working machine (and vary in a few places as well). I force reinstalled the mailscanner rpm, 4.81.4-1. I checked /var/spool/relay_spool permissions on both working and broken server. I checked /var/spool/MailScanner permissions on both working and broken server. I dumped the hold directory and the quarantine directory on the broken server. I set the MailScanner incoming directory to be an in memory area and dumped it. I've tried spamassassin -D -p /etc/MailScanner/spam.assassin.prefs.conf --lint 2> spamassassin_test On both the working and the broken server. I get a message that lint detected 1 or 2 issues and that I need to turn on debugging, but I don't know how. I reinstalled mysql on the broken server, every mysql rpm. I double and triple checked to make sure mysql is running before MailScanner is started. Is there data in /var/www/mailscanner that I need to be aware of? I was getting errors that perl was defaulting to the C locale, so I force reinstalled glibc rpm's and did an ldconfig -v which seems to have cleared that up at least ;-) How do I tell spamassassin and the mysql databases to dump? I want to start over bayesian and everything. I want to restart the works here. Barring that, is there a troubleshooting trick that will tell me why this server is jamming? It won't even pass locally generated email. At least one of these three pieces is broken: 1 Postfix 2 MailScanner 3 MySQL The $20 million question is which one and how do I fix it? _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
