I have already considered dirvish. I'm not smart enough to run dirvish.
Besides, rdiff-backup does much the same thing and is just as fast. The
only reason it usually takes an hour is because I only run a backup
when I have created work that is important to save. Sometimes weeks go
by where I have no significant production. In fact, some might say I
have never produced anything significant. 

I use a thumb drive as a temporary quick backup medium if I am working
on something. When I finish the project I insert the Ultrabay drive and
run rdiff-backup. I've been doing it this way for decades and I have
never yet lost a file. Keith and I have an understanding: I think he is
overly cautious and he thinks I am a fool. There may be some truth in
both opinions. But for sure, neither of us is likely to change the
other.
