I'm on a double play and I'm only 2 months in. What can people tell me about VOIP and the alternatives I have to going with Comcast Digital Voice? I've heard about something call Eeks for example. At $45/month normal price, Comcast Digital Voice seems expensive.
A question about lower cost Comcast Digital Voice, it is 5 cents a minute for what exactly? I'm debating whether or not to have Comcast install my Motorola SB6120 now and drop the voice service or go with lower cost phone service and keep the promotional price for the Internet? When a year is up, I'm thinking I can drop digital voice. Doing the math, I save about $9-$10 a month if I drop Digital Voice service right now and lose the promotion. I don't have to cut digital voice till the end of the promotion in May, but even that option has an associated cost. How do I search for devices that will work with Comcast's Digital Voice service in conjunction with my Motorola SB6120? What am I looking at cost wise? I could wait for another voice modem to show up on Ebay, but I have no idea when that will be. Can anyone describe their experience with Comcast as far as reducing service goes? I've already checked with Comcast to see if my cable modem is acceptable and they have accepted it, so I could ask for a service downgrade now. It might be easier as far as a second line goes to do something through the phone company or over DSL. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
