Hello,

Well you could go with the latest Mandrake, since you are already familiar
with it.
If you are just running a server and not a desktop environment you might
look into CentOS, which is based on RedHat Enterprise Linux,
or you might also look at Debian.  Ubuntu would work, but it is really
geared towards desktop use, not that it couldn't function as a server.
It is just easier to start off with a lean and mean Debian server than trim
down an Ubuntu installation.

As for filesystem, you can't go wrong with ext4, which I believe most
distros are using as default now.
