Practically speaking, "experienced practitioners" don't get fancy. If you can cover basic port-blocking/opening, forward-dynamic and reverse-static NAT, you'll have well-educated students. If they get a little experience with the Red Hat and UFW config files, all the better. Combine with IP Route, and you're great.
