Glad to hear you got it booting. Now that you're this far, can you send us your /etc/fstab and /boot/grub/menu.lst files? Also, if you suspect that some partitions aren't mounting properly (possibly causing X/mysql/etc to fail) please include the output of the 'mount' command so we can see what succesfully mounted.
