Thanks to the good advice from Michael R. and others I bought a Panasonic HDC-SD80 digital camcorder. Thinking there was a recent thread on digital video editing, I checked the mail list archives for May and June. There's only a thread on working with VHS tapes.
The new model camcorders record in AVCHD or iMac formats. Is anyone here aware of editing/playback software for linux that accepts this high definition format? If not, could someone point me toward a source of information on this?
