I wasn't aware that a Wii would run Linux. I doubt there is enough disk space to run both Linux and the Wii OS, but perhaps you can boot Linux from an external drive. I put homebrew on a wii ~2 years back, and it was quite easy, didn't disrupt normal functions, and (in theory) would read media of a shared drive - I never tried that though. Things may have changed though. I don't believe homebrew has ever been supported. (The installation process takes advantage of some bugs in the Wii firmware, iirc.
